September 15th, 1985
Taya Rogers is born to Urai and William Rogers on September 15th, 1985 in Long beach, CA. Growing up as an only child Taya enjoyed using her imagination to keep herself occupied and was always found dragging around her toy stereo blasting music or hiding in a corner reading a book. >
Lucky Number 7
Fall 1992
When Taya is 7 years old, the Rogers family leaves the hot and sunny California coast for the even hotter and sunnier streets of Bangkok, Thailand. Thailand becomes her home for the next 7 years where she discovers her Thai roots and learns the language & culture.
Easy, Breezy
Winter 1997
While on a family vacation when Taya was 12 years old, a talent scout approaches her and introduces her to the idea of modeling and acting. After some persuasion, an initially shy Taya begins auditioning. She lands a 12 Plus body splash commercial and a Sea Breeze commercial in the same week.
303 Fear/Faith/Revenge
Spring 1998
After filming several commercials (12 Plus, Seabreeze, Pias) and music videos (TicTacToe, Raffy&Nancy, Mos), in spring 1998 Taya books her first feature film, 303 Fear/Faith/Revenge. Within a few months of its release, she also lands a co-host role on a variety show (4 SahTahThaLuey) which she continues to host for 2 years.
Leading Lady
Summer 1999
With 2 movies (303 fear/faith/revenge & Small Soldiers) and various commercials (Dutch Mill, Dentyne, 12 Plus, SeaBreeze, Pias), Taya is cast as the leading female role (Prissana) in her first television series, a remake of the classic Thai love story, Prissana which has been re-aired every year for the past 10 years and continues to be her most memorable role in Thailand.
Hitting the Books
Fall 1999
Taya moves back to the United States to finish high school in Redondo Beach, CA. She graduates in June 2003 then continues her studies at Loyola Marymount University where she graduates with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Marketing in May 2007.
Summer Fling
Summer 2004
In between her sophomore and junior year, Taya returns to Thailand to film Krong Petch, a dramatic poverty stricken love story and her second TV mini-series. It is while doing much of her filming in the Thai slums that she develops a passion for helping the underprivileged children of Thailand, particularly those with disabilities or who are orphaned. She is constantly seeking charity organizations in need of help & continues to encourage awareness and support for them in Thailand.
An American Debut
Spring 2007
Just before graduating from Loyola Marymount University in spring of 2007, Taya is cast in the debut single, “The Great Escape” for pop rock band Boys Like Girls.
Back to Bangkok
Summer 2007
Immediately after graduation Taya is offered the lead role in PayakSaow SaabEilee, an action mini-series. This was the first time she performed her own fight scenes and stunts.
Music to Her Ears
Spring 2008
After wrapping up the action mini-series in Thailand Taya is asked to join MTV Asia as their newest VJ. She relocates to Singapore and learns the VJ trade, attending shows, events, & parties to interview the industry’s top artists from around over the world.
California Girl
Summer 2009
After a year and a half of hosting for Mtv Asia, Taya moves back to her hometown in Southern California to refocus on acting and auditioning.
CBS “Chinatown” Cold Case
Fall 2009
Taya stars in the “Chinatown” episode of CBS’ Cold Case in November 2009, marking her acting debut in the United States & earning her Screen Actors Guild membership.
Music Video “Yellowcard”
Spring 2011
Pop punk band Yellowcard debuts their video, starring Taya, for “Hang You Up” off their much anticipated comeback record. Taya’s tagline at the end of the video makes such an impact that she and Ryan, the lead singer, are put on a shirt depicting the final memorable shot.
